NORTHAMPTON – The Hampden District Attorney on Wednesday identified the woman killed in a weekend parachuting accident in Orange as Alexis Zayas, 27, of Long Island.
Zayas was parachuting on Saturday when she struck a barn on South Main Street, according to the DA’s office. She had apparently veered off course.
South Main Street is adjacent to Orange Municipal Airport.
Zayas was taken to Athol Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries and then to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She died on Monday.
The death remains under investigation.
