Victim of fatal parachuting accident in Orange identified

ORANGE, Mass. (WWLP) – Authorities have identified the woman who died in a parachuting accident in Orange over the weekend.

According to Hampshire County District Attorney Spokesperson Mary Carey, the woman was identified as 27-year-old Alexis Zayas of Long Island. 

Carey said the woman suffered serious injuries while parachuting on South Main Street when she veered off course and collided with a barn Saturday. 

She was taken to Athol Memorial Hospital, then later to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where she died Monday.

The Orange Police Department and the State Police Detectives connected to the DA’s office are investigating the incident.
