Sunday 10 1 17 morning call

Third day of rest in a row, I’ve also been healing a ear infection.

5am significant buoy readings
South shore

W
2.1ft @ 10s from 207° (SSW)

SW
2.8ft @ 10s from 162° (SSE)

Hard to interpret readings at the outer buoys, my guess is that direction indication at the W buoy is wrong and they both are the windswell from the southern hemisphere trades. Flat to knee high is my call for the south shore.

North shore
Pauwela
3.7ft @ 7s from 84° (E)

That’s it, just a bit of windswell. It should be another minimal day on the north shore.

Wind map at noon shows no wind.

North Pacific shows the NNW fetch in its moment of highest production of waves for us and the windswell fetch. The wind is barely 30 knots in the first one, vicinity is going to be the most important factor for the wave size. Surfline is calling for 5f 11s on Tuesday, but now that I see the fetch, that seems optimistic to me.

South Pacific shows a couple of fetches SSW and SSE of us.

Morning sky.
