Saturday 6 8 19 morning call

Young Maui ripper Erin Brooks posted this gorgeous wave she got in Nicaragua and my comment was “makes me want to get on a plane and go there!”. And I might.

4am significant buoy readings.
South shore
Barbers
1.6ft @ 14s from 209° (SSW)

Lanai
1.3ft @ 14s from 203° (SSW)

Tasman Sea swell went up a tiny bit at the buoys and as a result there’s some occasional well overwaist waves on the webcam, but it still looks very inconsistent (which is one of the reasons why you should always check the webcam yourself before going). The kids are going to have fun at the contest at Launuipoko.

North shore
Pauwela
3.4ft @ 7s from 77° (ENE)

Pure and relatively small windswell at the buoy, Hookipa is going to be close to flat, better size could be found on the east facing shores. Small NW swell should show up tomorrow.

Wind map at noon.

North Pacific has nothing worth circling.

South Pacific has a beauty of a fetch just east of New Zealand. Long, decent wind inside, good direction. Missing a bit of width and the duration, as it’s modeled not to be as good tomorrow. 3.7ft 16s predicted by Surfline for next Saturday.

Morning sky.
