Hotels That Still Have Last-Minute Rooms for 2018 Super Bowl

2018 Super Bowl is a stone’s throw away, and if you’re trying to attend the game, you better figure out your accommodations soon. Whether you support the New England Patriots or the Philadelphia Eagles, you can agree on one thing— hotel rooms during a major sporting event aren’t cheap. Luckily, there’s a way to book award nights in Minneapolis for the game held on Feb. 4 at the U.S. Bank Stadium.

The dates used for looking up rooms are Feb. 3 through Feb. 5.

I hate to break this to you, but unfortunately, most hotels with the big chains in Minneapolis, including Hilton, Marriott and Starwood, have sold out. But, there’s still a chance to book a few rooms on points if you act quickly.

IHG Rewards

For those with IHG Rewards points, there’s one property that still has one room available—Holiday Inn Express & Suites: Minneapolis SW – Shakopee. A standard room here goes for 20,000 points per night, and the cash rate on the aforementioned dates is $499, which gives you a nice value for your points. The hotel is about 23 miles away from the stadium, so it’s a trek, but this is your only option if you collect nothing but IHG points.

Wyndham Rewards

If you have Wyndham Rewards points, you’re also in luck because two properties still have award rooms during Super Bowl weekend. Not the fancies of choices by any means, Travelodge Valleyfair Shakopee (24 miles from the venue) and Super 8 Chaska (27 miles from the venue) have rooms for 15,000 points per night. Booking these hotels with points will save you $248 per night and $300 per night, respectively.

Club Carlson

Radisson guests, you also have two options to book your nights with points. Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Forest Lake offer award rooms for 28,000 points per night, and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Buffalo offer award rooms for 38,000 points per night. Again, both if these properties are outside of the main city area, but staying there on points will save you either $475 or $330 cash each night.

Choice Privileges

Those of you with Choice Hotels Rewards Points have the most options when it comes to booking a reward room during Super Bowl weekend. At least six properties in the area still have rooms available, and award nights range from 13,000 to 20,500 points each. The closest property to the stadium is Quality Inn & Suites Arden Hills – Saint Paul North in Arden Hills, Minn. It is about 11 miles away and requires 20,500 Rewards Points, or $350, per night.

Are you going to Minneapolis for the 2018 Super Bowl? Have you redeemed points and miles to make your trip more affordable?
