Hilton Barbados Review

Recently, my husband and I took our kids on a 12-night cruise on the MSC Divina. Our ship departed from Miami and made stops in St. Thomas, Antigua, Barbados, Curacao, Aruba, and Grenada.

For our day in Barbados, we did a day pass to the Hilton Barbados – a hotel I was supposed to visit earlier this year but never did due to an itinerary change.

As someone with lots of points in the Hilton Honors program and a love of Caribbean properties, I have had my eye on this property for a while now. After all, this property frequently costs as little as $250 or 50,000 Hilton Honors points per night.

Arriving at the Hilton Barbados Resort

Arrival at the Hilton Barbados Resort was swift and easy. The hotel greets you with a steep driveway and open-air lobby. Off the lobby, you’ll find several places to eat, a coffee shop, a store to buy beach clothing and souvenirs, and plenty of places to sit and relax.

While we didn’t stay the night at the hotel, I did ask if I could see the inside of a room. The standard rooms were nice, just as you would expect for a 3 or 4 star Hilton on the beach. The king bedroom was spacious with a large bathroom and an oceanfront terrace. One thing I really liked about this hotel is the fact that, because of the way it is situated on the property, every room in the hotel has an ocean view or full ocean frontage.

The property also has a club floor and a full club lounge that offers continental breakfasts in the morning, mid-day snacks, and some drinks for the highest ranking Hilton Honors members and those who pay for access. In addition, they have a large gym, a spa, and a kid’s club with planned activities for the little ones.

Beaches and Pools

While I love the Barbados Platinum Coast, the Hilton Barbados also has a great oceanfront spot further south on the island. The hotel has a few different beach areas, all flanked on the side by rocks that keep big waves away. The waterfront area behind the hotel is huge, chairs are plentiful, and umbrellas don’t seem hard to find. The sand is powder white and soft, and they have beach service if you don’t want to walk to the bar for a drink.

The pools were also nice. The lower pool sits next to a beachfront patio where we had a delicious lunch. The main pool is meandering and expansive, with a few small grotto areas with waterfalls. They also had water toys for the kids to play with, as well as hammocks next to the pool.

On the upper level of the outside of the hotel, they also have a large infinity pool and a small shallow pool for kids. The entire area was ideally set up so that parents could sit and have a few drinks while watching the kids play.

The Bottom Line

I would absolutely go back to this hotel again and think it’s a great place to spend a lazy week with kids or adults. At just $250 or 50,000ish Hilton Honors points per night, the Hilton Barbados is a real steal. I’m anxious for the new Hilton Aspire credit card to come up so I can rack up more Hilton points for a stay here or at another Hilton property.

Have you been to this hotel or to Barbados? What did you think?
