Earn Bonus Ultimate Rewards Points by Using Sapphire Cards With NFC Payment Methods

Chase is offering a new way of earning bonus points, and this time it’s by using your Sapphire-branded cards for mobile-wallet transactions.

Chase cards are compatible with near-field communication (NFC) payment options, such as Apple Pay, Android Pay, Chase Pay and Samsung Pay. By tapping your eligible Chase card in stores, online and via apps at participating merchants, you can earn double points on your everyday purchases with Chase Sapphire, Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve credit cards.

Bonus points will be added to digital wallet transactions made between Oct. 4 and Nov. 4 on up to $1,500.

Remember that the Preferred and the Reserve cards earn double and triple points on travel and dining, respectively, and it’s possible to earn triple and quadruple points in those categories by using one of the mobile wallet payment options at checkout.

Popular travel merchants, such as Lyft, Uber, Airbnb and Expedia, accept select NFC payment methods, mainly Apple Pay, so it’s possible to earn bonus points on those transactions. Additionally, Samsung Pay works at almost all merchants. Simply hold your phone near the swipe terminal, and the payment should go through as if you were to swipe the actual card.

Digital wallet payment methods have been around for a while, but only recently did banks started promoting them. Earlier this spring, U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card was the first to offer triple points on mobile wallet transactions, and now Chase is following suit with a limited-time promo.

Will you try one of the mobile wallet payment options to earn bonus points with your Sapphire cards?
