Two skydivers are “OK” following a midair collision in Ottawa, Skydive Chicago said Tuesday afternoon.
According to the skydiving company, two licensed skydivers had a mid-air collision, leaving one of the divers unconcious. The diver’s “automatic activation device” deployed his parachute and both jumpers were listed as “OK.”
Police responded Tuesday morning to a report of “entanglement” near the Fox River in Ottawa, officials said.
The nearby Marseilles Fire Department sent an ambulance to the 3100 block of East 1969th Road, where the reported “entanglement” happened, police said.
According to the Ottawa Fire Department, the unconscious diver landed in the Fox River and the second diver landed at the airport where SkyDive Chicago is located. Both men were taken to OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.
It was not immediately clear if either diver was transported from the scene.
Ottawa is a popular destination for skydiving.
