Double Dip With IHG’s Priceless Surprises & Accelerate Promotions

AdSense

IHG has two big promotions going on right now: the usual quarterly Accelerate offer which offers tens of thousands of bonus IHG points, plus a Priceless Experiences promotion that gives you a MasterCard reward card worth up to $100.

Accelerate

IHG typically offers targeted bonus offers every quarter, and the last few Everyone’s Accelerate offer is different – register to see yours here. This Accelerate offer runs from September 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017.

My Accelerate offer is pretty bad this time around – I got 5,000 bonus points for doing one stay in October, but I’d have to stay a lot of nights to get any other bonuses. It would take 23 nights at IHG properties for me to get the full bonus, which is only 42,400 points…with my travel patterns, there’s not a chance that I’ll meet the full number of nights.

I hope your offers are better than mine!

Priceless Experiences

This promotion allows you to earn a MasterCard Reward Card worth up to $100 by completing two stays between November 1, 2017 and February 1, 2018. (You can also earn 4000 bonus points with an additional two stays during that period). Here’s how it works:

  1. Register here.
  2. Book your hotel stays on IHG.com using any MasterCard credit card. At least one stay must be for two or more nights to qualify.
  3. The value of your reward card depends on the hotel brands you stay at:
    1. Get a $100 card if at least one of your stays is at an Intercontinental
    2. Get a $75 card if at least one of your stays is at Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, or Even Hotels
    3. Get a $50 card f neither of your stays is at one of the above brands.
  4. After completing your second stay, you will get an email to request your reward card. The request form must be completed by March 31, 2018.
  5. Your reward card will be mailed to the address you submit on the form in 6-8 weeks.

The card value is determined at the time of your second qualifying stay, so if you stay at two Holiday Inns in November and then an Intercontinental in December, you’ll still only receive a $50 card.

Stacking the Promotions

These promotions are pretty easy to use together:

  1. Check your Accelerate offers to see what you need to do to unlock bonus points – some offers require a specific number of stays or nights, while others might require stays at a specific brand or in a specific region.
  2. Decide which offers you want to complete.
  3. Make sure your stays are before December 31, 2017, and that at least one is for two nights or longer.
  4. See if you can have one of your first two stays be at an Intercontinental – or if not, a Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, or EVEN. This will maximize the value of your reward card. (Make sure to do the math to see if it makes sense for you if staying at one of those properties would cost more than a different brand).
  5. Go through a portal to earn bonus cashback or miles – you can use CashbackMonitor.com to find the best portal. (You may have to check a few pages on CashbackMonitor to find the best deal – they have listings for IHG, Intercontinental Hotels, Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts, Intercontinental Hotels Group, plus all of the individual brands like Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza!)
  6. Make sure to use a MasterCard to book – the IHG Rewards Mastercard will earn you 5 IHG points per dollar on IHG stays, or you can use a Citi Prestige or Citi Premier card for 3x ThankYou Points. If you don’t have one of these cards, any other MasterCard will work too.
  7. Complete your stays and wait for your points to post
  8. Watch your email for the reward card claim form after your second qualifying stay.

Will you be taking advantage of one or both of these promotions before the end of the year?
