Credit Cards I Might Sign Up for This Year

AdSense

Last year, my husband and I got several new rewards credit cards. We both got the Chase Sapphire Reserve, for example. We also got a few new business credit cards along with a few new Amex Platinum cards when the signup bonus was 100K.

So far in 2017, we’ve taken things slow. We usually try to wait at least 91 days between signups. This seems to work for us in terms of getting more approvals. Plus, spacing out our new credit cards helps me stay more organized.

But when I get home from vacation, I do plan to take advantage of a few offers before they expire. Here’s what I’ve got on the agenda:

For Hubby:

Hyatt credit card – I just realized my husband has never had the Hyatt credit card. Since this card is theoretically not under the 5/24 rule, I plan to sign him up. At the moment, you earn two free Hyatt nights worldwide after you spend $1,000 on your card within three months.

Hilton Surpass Card from American Express – The new 100K offer on this card is just too good to pass up. Currently, you earn 100,000 Hilton Honors bonus points after you spend $3,000 on your card within three months. A $75 annual fee does apply. I’m going to sign my husband up for this offer before it expires on 5/31.

Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card – My husband received a direct mail offer for 60,000 bonus miles after he uses the card for $1,000 in purchases within three months. This direct offer comes with no annual fee and a $50 statement credit if he uses his card for a Delta purchase within three months. He also gets a free checked bag on Delta flights. Since we have a few Delta flights coming up this year, this will come in handy.

For Me:

Hyatt credit card – It’s been more than two years since I earned the signup bonus on this card. Last time I used my two free nights at the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris. Once I sign up along with my husband, we’ll have four nights to spend at a Hyatt property of our choice.

Hilton Surpass Card from American Express – I’m going to get this card to take advantage of the 100,000 bonus points offer. Combined, my husband and I will have more than 200,000 Hilton Honors points to burn.

Final Thoughts

I really hoped to take advantage of the Ritz Carlton offer for three free nights. Unfortunately, we missed the boat on that one since the new offer is for only two free nights. I hope the 3 free night offer rolls back around soon.

I’m not sure where we’ll spend our free Hyatt nights or our 200,000 Hilton Honors points yet, but I know they will come in handy. Maybe an all-inclusive Hyatt? I might use my Hilton Honors points for another trip to my favorite hotel, the El Conquistador in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

Either way, let’s hope I can get approved. Wish me luck!
