Barclaycard CashForward Just Doubled Its Sign-Up Offer

If you’ve been looking for a no-annual fee card with a decent cash bonus and a low minimum-spending requirement but can’t qualify for Chase cards, you might want to pay attention.

Barclaycard CashForward World MasterCard has increased its sign-up bonus from $100 to $200 after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days of card membership. The card earns unlimited 1.5X points per dollar spent on all purchases and a 5-percent redemption bonus to use toward the next redemption.

Unlike redemptions with another card in the Barclay family, Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard, that start at $100, CashForward’s redemptions start at $50. The credit can be applied toward a statement credit or gift cards or a deposit into your bank account, and not strictly to travel purchases, so it’s a little easier to redeem. Points do not expire as long as the account is open.

Still, the $50 requirement could be more competitive. For example, Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card earns the same 1.5 percent cash back and does not impose redemption caps.

The CashForward card also offers 15 months of 0 percent annual percentage rate on balance transfers made within 45 days of account opening. I generally do not recommend applying for new credit cards to people with existing debt. However, if you’re trying to consolidate and pay off your debt without accruing any more interest, 15 months is a pretty generous timeline.

The credit card is a bit underrated, but the $200 cash-back bonus makes it a decent option for those who are not that invested in travel rewards and looking for a no-annual fee card with simple earning structure and redemption options. This is also a great card for those whose spending categories vary across the board.

What do you think of this no-annual fee flat rewards credit card from Barclaycard?
